Cine Memories of the War of National Resistance

Cine Memories of the War of National Resistance

Introduction

To commemorate the victory of the war of resistance against Japanese aggression, the Archive organises free screenings of films themed on the war every year on 3 September. For the previous year, we screened Hong Kong 1941 (1984), a film set during the Japanese occupation of the city. The focus continues to be on Hong Kong this year with The Raid, a 1991 film directed by Tsui Hark and Tony Ching Siu-tung that was adapted from a popular local comic book. Unlike other wartime films, The Raid takes a light-hearted approach in revisiting the war through action sequences and a comic style.
