Nancy Chan outshone every star with unprecedented charm and
beauty in her Shanghai debut Mulan Joins the Army (1939). Her
Mulan was loyal and filial, fearsome and respectful, motivating
souls to fight for the country. Lively and alluring, she embodied the
sentiment of tropics and excitement of an exotic land, becoming the
barometer of modern women. The exhibition showcases numerous
valuable film stills and old magazines that feature the "Movie Queen"
of China.
