Days of Being Wild

Ruminating on the theme of 'quest' against a nostalgic 1960s backdrop, Days of Being Wild is a story about the infinite search for love, belonging, and self-discovery. This bewildering reverie circles around a group of wayward dreamers who are bound to their inescapable fates and caught up in their restless longings. Leslie Cheung worked with Wong Kar-wai for the first time in the visionary director's sophomore feature. His effortless portrayal of this complex character of a rootless lothario earned him the Best Actor accolade at the 10th Hong Kong Film Awards. Also starring the fresh-faced Maggie Cheung, Jacky Cheung, Carina Lau Ka-ling, Andy Lau and Tony Leung Chiu-wai before they rose to fame, we can only look back at it now as a nevermore star-studded classic that ages like fine wine. With Cantopop diva Anita Mui performing the theme song, it marks another timeless collaboration between the two late legends.

Screening to the audience this time is the Canada theatrical version. An all-time classic does not age with time, and is worth revisiting many times over.
