Detective novel  Wong Ang the Female Cat Burglar  began as a serial in a Shanghai magazine in 1948, and it shot to popularity in Hong Kong after the war. Other actresses have played the heroine in other film adaptations, but no one fits the role better than Yu So-chow, the top action heroine of her time. In this instalment, Wang Ang must clear her name and outwit the bad guys when she is framed for a diamond robbery. Yu is once again joined by fellow action heroines Wu Lai-chu and Yam Yin – a historically significant casting choice for the genre.
