Cine Memories of the War of National Resistance

Cine Memories of the War of National Resistance

Introduction

To commemorate of the Victory of War of Resistance against Japan in the Second World War, the Hong Kong Film Archive screened Eight Hundred Heroes and Incident in the Pacific last year to let audiences witness the events of the war through films. This year, we shift the focus back to Hong Kong film with Hong Kong 1941, a drama set during the Japanese occupation of the city.

Most cinemas have made the transition away from film projection to digital projection in recent years. However, we believe that it is of the utmost importance to let our audience see films as they were originally presented upon their release. We hope that this very rare screening of the film's original 35mm print will raise awareness about the importance of film preservation.
