Film studios Great Wall, Feng Huang and Sun Luen, the base camp of leftist filmmaking in the 1950s and 1960s, played a pivotal role in the history of Hong Kong cinema. Founded in 1952, Sun Luen specialised in Cantonese productions and, over the course of 30 years, released some 100 titles in a quest to fulfil its artistic and political missions.
