Three of Hong Kong's most sought-after actresses, Anita Mui, Michelle Yeoh and Maggie Cheung, team up in Johnnie To's martial-arts-superhero film as they play a trio of superheroines who join forces to fight a baby-snatching villain.

Each heroine has her distinct look, personality and superpower—well-matched by the leading ladies' unique individualities and acting chops. Yeoh shows off her martial arts skills as she performs some of the most jaw-dropping stunts; Cheung steals the scene with her badass, stylish bounty hunter role; while Mui convincingly switches between her character's dual personas as the fearless Wonder Woman and an agreeable wife to her cop husband. These femme fatale characters are made more iconic with Bruce Yu's eye-catching costumes. From flowing cape, skin-tight leather suit to silver eye mask, these outfits emphasise the superheroines' physique and agility, while bringing a healthy dose of comics flair to this fantasy-action film. Mui delicately expresses the desolation and solitude of being a superhero in the film's end credit song, winning the Best Original Film Song prize at the 13th Hong Kong Film Awards.
