This is an exemplary film that preserves the achievement of artistic collaboration between Peking and Cantonese operas, as renowned Peking opera diva Fen Ju Hua shines in her role as a daomadan. Produced by Koo Man-Kuen, the film is star-studded, includes her husband Leung Sing-por and daughters Man Lan and Jacqueline Leung Po-chu, alongside future stars Lam Kar-sing and Connie Chan Po-chu. The story was adapted from the Peking opera excerpt Water Nymph of Sizhou City, about a female warrior (Fen Ju Hua) who trains herself up in Deity Mountain for years until she is strong enough to conquer the water demons. The film offers a rare opportunity to witness Fen Ju Hua's legendary martial arts stunts on the silver screen, as she performs her famous water bucket balancing acrobatics.
