Based on the death of contemporary martial arts master Huo Yuanjia, the story features Bruce Lee as Huo's apprentice Chen, who wields nunchaku with unimaginable speed and decimates his Japanese opponents from unpredictable angles. Upon the film's release, nunchaku became the signature weapon of Bruce Lee universally, and it has continued to inspire tributes in pop culture, from Stephen Chow to Jay Chou.
