This is a Shaw Brothers remake of a 1960s wuxia classic. The iconic titular weapon is a pair of blades in flame shape. The parents of the lead character are killed over the blades, leaving behind his sister and him. The siblings are rescued, raised and trained separately by a hero and a villain, each in possession of one of the blades. Sworn enemies until their identities are revealed, they join hands at the end to avenge their parents' death. Laser techniques were new at the time, and the colourful special effects coupled with the fantasy-inspired style add excitement to the magnificent martial arts choreography.
