The Eight Diagram Pole Fighter

The famous generals of the Yang family in the Sung Dynasty are known for their courage, patriotism and their family heirloom, the Yang Spear. But when the enemy invents a weapon that can successfully counterface the Yang Spear thus General Yang and his sons all lost their lives in a battle. The only survivor, the fifth son, seeks refuge in a temple and plots his revenge. He disposes of the spearhead and develops his own Eight Diagram Pole move, with which he eventually vanquishes his enemy. Under Lau Kar-leung's masterful choreography and Gordon Liu Chia-hui's accomplished martial arts skills, the film is filled with exciting and exquisite combat scenes that fully illustrates the properties of spear and pole, but with an added layer of humanity rarely seen in kungfu films as the protagonist struggle to let go of the family heirloom.
