Dirs: Chin Tai-soak, Lee Kai The celebrated male huadan Chan Fei-nung was persuaded by director Chin Tai-soak to revive his art for this film, appearing on the silver screen for the first time and doubling as screenwriter to adapt his own signature opera. Chan's physical appearance at age 56 may seem awkward under the unforgiving scrutiny of a camera, but he quickly transcends the disadvantage with his masterly singing and acting, leading us through a vanished artistic experience. |
