1956 | B&W | DCP (Digitised from 16mm) | Cantonese | 78min

The multi-talented Yeung often plays several roles in a film, from directing to scripting to acting, as he does in The Ghost Hero. Here, partnering with Ling Wan, he reanimates the story of a vengeful phantom in The Dead Comes Alive, telling it with gorgeously atmospheric mise-en-scène. He again plays the titled spectre with formalised grandeur, enhanced by the work of Tse Tsak-Yuen, one of Cantonese cinema's top make-up artists.

Please note that this version of the film is incomplete, with unintended cuts. The image and sound quality of the original 16mm sole print is short of ideal, we appreciate your understanding.
