The classic wuxia novel Story of the White-haired Demon Girl by Liang Yusheng was adapted for the big screen and TV over the decades. A public poll on the casting was conducted for this 1959 film version with Cheung Ying and Law Yim-hing being cast. The story revolves around the tumultuous relationship between the kind-hearted Cheuk Yat-hong (Cheung) and fierce Lin Ngai-sheung (Law).
They fall in love but eentually Lin's hair turns white in one night as love sadly turns into hatred. Being a consummate wuxiaheroine, Law showcases her martial arts skills in numerous scenes, especially in a memorable scene of sword dance, she dances with grace and fluidity while singing with passion to the a traditional tune.
As the very first actress playing the role of 'White-haired Demon Girl', Law mentioned on her having great sympathy for Lin, often immersing in the character with no reserve to the point of designing the clothes for the character.
