With several years of television directing experience under his belt, Alex Cheung made his foray into filmmaking with the help of director Teddy Robin and former police officer Philip Chan. Expanding on the themes he has dealt with in the television anthology series CID, this unusual story of a righteous cop determined to take down a rejected police candidate turned psycho killer, ushered in a new genre of realistic cops-and-robbers films with its fast-paced gun fight in the streets and chase scene in the alleyways that kept audiences on the edge of their seats. Made by Cheung when he was still in his twenties, the film was so well-received by critics and audiences alike that it brought Cheung instant fame and was considered one of the ground-breaking works of the Hong Kong New Wave. This special screening also includes Cheung's legendary experimental short film, Come Together.
