Parallel editing in films often occur when star-crossed lovers could not be united, it was employed twice by Director Fung Fung in this film. Mak Bing-wing and Fung Wong Nui are both blind and falls in love through hearing and touching. Director used tracking shot to follow how Fung and Mak find each other through clapping, a subtle parallel to how they overcome obstacles to be together. The cinematography is unique as all acts open and close with stage-like tableau compositions complete with stage curtain and pillars, which transpose audience to an actual stage, the on-site feeling is especially strong in a solo martial arts performance by Lam Kar-sing, reflecting the extent to which the director assimilates filmmaking and staging of Cantonese operas in his work.
