Riding on the success of God of Gamblers (1989), Jeff Lau and Corey Yuen Kwai team up for this hilariously mo lei tau (nonsensical) take on the gambling genre. Stephen Chow stars as Sing, a country boy who comes to Hong Kong and stays with his uncle (Ng Man-tat). When his uncle realises that Sing has supernatural powers, he decides to exploit the skills on the gambling table. Not only did Chow and Ng each earn a Hong Kong Film Awards nomination with this blockbuster film, they began a partnership here that would eventually become one of the greatest comic pairings in Hong Kong cinema.
