Eager to find out the murder of her father, Qiu Lin (Hsia Moon) goes undercover at the Green Swan Nightclub to investigate the two suspects–Xu Jinglan (Fu Che) and Xia Xiong (Ping Fan). But Qiu soon learns of Xu's true heart and falls in love with him…While keeping the conventions of a crime film, Li injects the film with a melodramatic overtone. The suspenseful spy-thriller plots are filled with Hsia and Fu's singing and dancing scenes. Hsia and Fu's chemistry in The Green Swan Nightclub perhaps reminds one of Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant in Stanley Donen's Charade.
