Romeo and Juliet is given a comedic twist in Dear Love. The Wongs and the Fongs used to be close neighbours but fell out over some trifling matters. Their rift worsens further, when Wong Kar-wai (Cheung Ying) and Fong Wan-kam (Ha Ping), son and daughter from the two families, start seeing each other against the will of the former's hard-headed mother (Wong Man-lei, wife of producer Tse Yik-chi). The couple, with the help of their actor friends, resort to feigning suicide which successfully turns things around and wins their parents' blessings. Love has the final answer, as four couples of different generations put aside their differences to let true love reign.
