Village girl Yim (Pak Yin) falls for private tutor Cheung (Cheung Wood-yau). Even when Cheung gets engaged to Yim, his father tries to force him to marry rich girl Ping (Mui Yee). Cheung ultimately has no choice but to say yes to Ping when Yim, pregnant with Cheung's child, is said to have been drowned in an accident. Cheung and Ping end up in an unhappy marriage as Cheung works his way to exhaustion at his father-in-law's company and Ping becomes addicted to mahjong. At his lowest point, Cheung reunites with Yim, who shared a tough life with their child after being rescued six years ago. Will Cheung abandon everything and return to Yim? Just as he has done on radio, Li Ngaw vividl y narrates the story with plenty of humor and empathy.
