Director Mok Hong-si adapts radio star Ngai Mun's cross-generational family saga in this epic drama. Unwilling to be a farmer all his life, Hung (Cheung Wood-yau) goes into gambling and smuggling. He loses his savings overnight and is thrown into jail, leaving his wife (Wong Man-lei) alone to take care of their son, Wah. Fortunately, Wah (Tam Bing-man) grows up to be an upstanding man with a good wife (Nam Hung) and a life that sees joy in simplicity. However, everything changes when Wah's wife picks up a batch of jewelry while fleeing the fires of war. Supported by a script filled with moving moments and multi-dimensional characters, Tam gives a brilliant performance in a complex role that requires him to transform from a hard-working family man to a man destroyed by temptation.
