The legend of the Yeung clan from Song Dynasty has been told many times, but it has rarely been told in cinema like this. Wong Hok-sing, an opera performer in his own right, retells the story in the style of a Cantonese opera with Peking opera legend Fen Juhua as action choreographer. In addition to Fen's disciples, including Lam Kar-sing, Chan Ho-kau and child star Cheung Fei-yin, Fen also has Yu So-chow as the spiritual leader of her ensemble cast, much like Yu's character Muk Kwai-ying. A Peking opera performer since the age of eight, Yu gets to showcase her talents in this one-of-a-kind Cantonese opera film.
