Following the success of The House of 72 Tenants (1973), Shaw Brothers brought director Chor Yuen back for another star-studded ensemble comedy. Based on the TVB sitcom 73, Hong Kong 73 tackles hot-button social issues such as the stock market fever, gambling addiction, corruption, social order, the medical system and educational problems by depicting the lives of the people living on the second floor of 73 Hong Kong Street. Playing an assistant director and a television cameraman respectively, To Ping and Shek Sau once again share the screen as brothers after A Sorrowful Millionaire (1963).
