An evil sorcerer traps Fu-yong (Pak Suet-sin) in a painting after she refuses to give her hand in marriage. The painting falls into the hands of a young hawker named Man-yi (Yam Kim-fai). When Fu-yong manifests herself, Man-yi falls in love with her and attempts to free her from the curse of the sorcerer. The music and lyrics Tong wrote for this work are lucid and lively, while Yam and Pak's moving rendition breathes life into the Chinese folklore. The plot, though intricate, resonates with viewers and fully demonstrates Tong's prolificacy and creativity other than his forte romance stories between the scholar and the maiden. Like  Enchanting Shadow , this type of mythical romance between two worlds is much loved by audiences of all generations.
