After motorcyclist Ah Long (Chow Yunfat) breaks up with his pregnant livein girlfriend Por Por (Sylvia Chang), he lands in jail for illegal racing. When Por Por gives birth to their child, her wealthy mother misleads her to believe it did not survive and she leaves Hong Kong out of grief. Ah Long single-handedly raises their son Porky after his release from prison, until 10 years later Por Por discovers her son is alive and wants him back. With its minimalist plot, the film presents an honest yet vivid portrayal of the myriad emotions of romance and family through the intimate events of its characters. Added with the realistic performances by Chow and Chang, the events on screen are brought even closer to viewers. The tragedy of separation and loss forces us to reflect on what is most valuable to us in life. As Chow once remarked in an interview, "the inspirational message that Ah Long gives us is that the important things in life are not fame and fortune, but rather the experience itself."
