Hong Kong's take on globetrotting matinee serial adventures, Ni Kuang's Wisely series saw 151 novels published over four decades. Director Teddy Robin's adaptation of the series draws its inspirations from several Wisely stories, combining ancient folklores and sci-fi tales with alien beings and spaceships. Seemingly influenced by the Indiana Jones series, The Legend of Wisely sees the titular hero (Sam Hui) travel to Taiwan, Egypt and Nepal in pursuit of the legendary "Dragon Pearl", a magical object that may change the course of human history. A feast for the senses with big-scale action, exotic locations and eye - popping special effects, The Legend of Wisely was another Lunar New Year hit for Cinema City.
