While stealing a diamond from the mob, King Kong (Sam Hui) accidentally leaves behind a white glove. Mistakenly believing that it's the calling sign of renowned international thief White Glove, the police calls in American detective Albert Au (Karl Maka) to assist in the case. After a series of showdowns, King Kong finally decides to work with Albert to bring the real White Glove to justice. With cool high-tech gadgets, real stunts and hilariously kooky humour, Hong Kong audiences finally got a Hollywood-esque action-comedy franchise to call their own. Aces Go Places went on to break local box office records, become Cinema City's biggest franchise, and turned Hui and Maka into one of the most iconic pairings of Hong Kong cinema. Try and spot the late Ko Shou-liang as Hui's stuntman in a jaw-dropping car chase that was all real stunts and zero computer effect.
