Director Ho Moon-hwa directed four Journey to the West films at Shaw Brothers. The second one follows Monkey King (Elliot Yueh Hua) as he tries to extinguish the long-standing flames of the Fiery Mountain by taking Princess Iron Fan's magical fan. In the second half of the film, Monkey King sets out to rescue his master Tong after he is captured by the two Whitebone Demons (Cheng Pei-pei and Lily Ho). To bring a fresh angle to a classical tale, Ho throws in everything from martial arts, to musical and dance sequences to create a highly entertaining and visually spectacular fantasy adventure.
