The Journey to the West spin-off tale turns the spotlight on the dysfunctional family of Red Boy (Fung Bo-bo), his mother Princess Iron Fan (Tam Sin-hung) and his father Bull King (Lau Hark-suen). Set after he obtains the True Samadhi Fire, Red Boy is exiled from his home after an argument with his father and becomes the king of the Fiery Caves. To cure his mother's ailment, Red Boy tries to capture monk Tong and gets into a battle with Monkey King. Mischievous, yet brave and loving, Fung Bo-bo makes an adorable version of this well-known character. Cheung Siupang is equally delightful as Monkey King, especially when he shares a duet with Red Boy while carrying him up a mountain. Bringing the magic to life with creative editing techniques, Battles with the Red Boy is a fun comical addition to Journey to the West.
