The end of the war saw the boom of the entertainment industry in a society still in turmoil. So-called noir films that showed up the ugly sides of humanity and society, whether they were from Hollywood, Shanghai or Hong Kong, were highly popular. Based on a popular novel by Yi Hungsang, this film tells the story of a big-time Hong Kong swindler (Lo Duen) seducing three women respectively and using them to swindle money. An innocent girl Siu Hung (Tsi Lo Lin) elopes with a rich man's son (Wong Chiumo) from Guangzhou to Hong Kong. After they are separated, she is duped and raped by the swindler, and forced to seduce men to cheat them out of their money. One of her victims turns out to be the lover she is separated from. The noir melodrama shows the oppression suffered by women in a patriarchal society, as well as alludes to the messy relationships between men and women and the lack of law and order after the war. The pure and beautiful Tsi Lo Lin, the wicked-looking Lo Duen and Chan Yuek-ho as a loose woman all gave brilliant performances.
