Clever village beauty Hao (Nancy Chan) goes to the big city to work for a wealthy family. She indulges in the glamorous, glittery big city life and even falls in love with the handsome family heir (Kwong Shan-siu). However, Hao's new life comes crashing down when she gets pregnant after being raped by another wealthy heir (Wong Cho-shan). After being booted from her employer's home and pushed to an emotional breakdown, Hao is rescued by her ex-lover from the village (Liu Mung-kok). Already dubbed the young southern queen of the silver screen at the time, 17-year-old Nancy Chan is simply radiant in the film especially in the light comedic first half of the film. Even though her character is less convincing in the second half due to its far-fetched plot twists, the story does end with a poignant message that is still relevant today.
