Based on the airwave novel by Li Ngaw, Christine Pai Lu-ming stars in this twist-filled melodrama as Ming, a poor girl who is sold into the Shin family as a servant to pay off her debts. She's bullied by Sau-fung (Lee Hong-kum) and nearly raped by the family's son Tai-hei (Cheng Kwan-min). Eventually, Ming escapes the city with her lover Shing-yam (Woo Fung), and the couple finally find happiness when Shing-yam finds success with a jewelry dealer. However, the couple's relationship is put in jeopardy when Sau-fung and Tai-hei return to their lives. From wealthy heir to a poor, desperate scammer, Cheng Kwan-min is downright loathsome as Tai-hei. Matched with Lee Hong-kum as his two-faced partner-in-crime, the duo is in a class of their own as traditional melodrama villains.
