Poor Chuk Chui-sum (Christine Pai Lu-ming) is forced by her sister-in-law into an arranged marriage with a sickly man, brother of her lover Sing Sai-kit (Law Kim-long). When the husband dies, the mother-in-law does everything possible to sabotage the romance. It would take Chuk's failed suicide attempt and an unwitting and distraught Sing to cause the mother-in-law to have a change of heart. Under the skillful hands of Wong Tin-lam, the male and female leads of Bitter Lotus (1960) have been reunited for another tragic family soap opera melodrama weepy. But the always-delightful Leung Sing-po has added the much-needed comic relief.
