Things get more complicated as the war intensifies and eventually ends, while the characters' relationships become more entwined with each other. The Star, the Moon and the Sun bond with each other, but it's inevitable that their saga concludes with all three suffering devastating losses of luster. Evan Yang's direction fails to capture the epic scale of the times but manages to distill the tangled emotions with delicate touches.
