Halfway through the filming for the Huangmei Diao (Yellow Plum Tunes) of the "Seven Fairies" tales, director Li Hanhsiang left Shaw Brothers, established a new company in Taiwan and began making a new version of the same film with a star-studded cast. While trying to stop Li through the courts, Shaw built the same set in multiple studios and brought in Chen Yet-sun and Ho Moon-hwa to quickly complete the film using Li's original script. In this whimsical fantasy, one of the seven fairies fall head over heels for a mortal, causing various kinds of unrest in heaven and on Earth. In the end, the problems on Earth are solved with the help of the fairy sisters, and the Heavenly Emperor sent his Gods to drag the fairies back to heaven. In the real world, the messy clash between Shaw Brothers and Li ended when both versions were released in December of that year, becoming the talk of the town.
