In this Hong Kong remake of his own film Tokyo Cinderella Musume (1954), Japanese director Inoue Umetsugu takes his bittersweet story of dreams and sisterhood from the streets of Tokyo to Hong Kong. Starring popular Shaw Brothers young starlets Cheng Pei-pei, Lily Ho and Chin Ping as three sisters who perform as background dancers for their magician father, the musical drama features colourful musical sequences complemented by dazzling costumes. Effortlessly moving between the sisters' fantasy worlds and their reality, this musical spectacular is classic big-screen entertainment at its best.
