When Les Belles became the highest grossing film of the year in 1961, it opened up the market for musical comedies. The following year, director Doe Ching made its sister work Love Parade with the same team. It was released during the New Year. As a modern-day comedy, its scale of production was unparalleled. Gynecologist Linda Lin Dai and fashion designer Peter Chen Ho are forever at loggerheads until they fall in love with each other. This romantic comedy with plenty of twists demonstrated the ambition and power of Shaw Brothers with its sumptuous parade of fashion, singing and dancing. In addition to the multiple sets and bright colours, it also features exquisitely designed fashion shows. To cater to the South East Asian market, Shaw invited Malaysian best actor Larry and sex goddess Salome to guest-star in a singing and dancing fashion show, with the Mandarin Chinese version of the song Bengawan Solo sung by Carrie Ku Mei. Linda Lin Dai, four-time winner of Best Actress awards, showcased 26 costumes designed by herself. This film won the Golden Hay Award for Best Comedy at the Asian Film Festival in 1963.
