Girls are flowers and the thorny problems for the budding blossoms of Connie Chan Po-chu and Nancy Sit Kar-yin are boys, boys, boys! The orphan girl Ho-yin leaves Macau for the flashy world of Hong Kong where she is besieged by a host of suitors and green-eyed monsters. Charming mansions, complete with manicured lawns and swimming pools, may be too much of a flaunt for the traditionally folksy Cantonese audience, but the joys and heartbreaks of puppy love never fails to strike a chord. The duet "Girls are Flowers", performed here by Connie Chan and Lui Kay, has entered the hallowed halls of nostalgia after being resuscitated years later on television.
