In the 1970s, Hong Kong saw rapid development in multiple areas, including population growth. Suddenly, the city was faced with a shortage of resources for the people, and birth control became a major topic of discussion in society. In The More the Merrier?, a firmly traditional father clashes with his intellectual son over that very issue. In addition to promoting the Government's birth control campaign, the episode also encouraged families to think about whether different values can co-exist under the same roof. Despite the establishment of the ICAC, citizens still had trouble shedding the memories of the corruption scandals that tainted the reputation of the police in the 1960s. Exploring the relationship between the police and the people through the perspectives of a rookie cop, an everyday citizen, and a neutral commentator, The Police and Police in the Neighbourhood aimed to improve the image of the police force by emphasising that policemen are also everyday people. These two episodes will likely strike a chord with Hong Kongers at a time when distrust towards the police has hit a new high.
