While the Wong Fei-hung film series still starred Kwan Tak-hing in the late 60s,the script by Szeto On gives Wong a new image. In this instalment, in order to protect the eight-member family of two female entertainers, Wong takes on the rascal Luk Hing-fui. Even though the main plot of his attempt to run the bad elements out of town seems to be similar to past films, Szeto On's script highlights the courage and wisdom of Master Wong through his matches with the overbearing bully. The scene in which he teaches his apprentice how to take a hit from Luk shows that the film is far superior to past Wong Fei-hung movies. The story comes to a climax when Wong is surrounded in the street, and issues a challenge to the bully: "Luk, you've been a bully long enough. This time, I have come by myself. Either I die, or you die." In Szeto On's sophisticated dramatic treatment, Wong Fei-hung no longer puts up with injustice, but assumes the role of a righteous fighter.
