Most of Yam Kim-fai's films feature her in a story with another lead actress, but occasionally she would get involved with more than one. In Paying Nocturnal Sacrifice to Kam-kiu, she is cast against Law Yim-hing and Tang Bik-wan. The former plays the wife Yam's character is reluctantly forced to marry, while the latter is the title character, a courtesan whom he really loves. Being torn between two women brings out two of Yam's cherished personalities. Against Law, he is stubborn, a little foolhardy but ultimately kind. But against Tang, he is the lover - tender, affectionate, loyal.
