This film is similar in structure to Swallows Come Home (1958), in which Yam Kim-fai is one of two men in the female lead's heart. A Pity Woman Met Her Former Lover Again, a Law Yim-hing vehicle, is even more interesting. The men in contention for Law's affection are played by Yam and Lam Kar-sing, the latter as a complex character who would resort to questionable means in his amorous pursuit but later proves to be pure of heart. Yam may have lost the girl to Lam, but her upstanding presence provides anchor for the film.
