A Perfect Marriage is essentially a Fong Yim-fun vehicle, compiling three condensed versions of her films Love Follows Fortune (1959), Her Prosperous but Selfish Husband (1958) and The Merry Phoenix (1958), framed by a story of contemporary setting. Yam is featured in the first and third segments, the former a story about a rich man who tries to take a beautiful maid as concubine but unwittingly sets her up with his cousin (Yam). The third segment is more interesting, with Yam playing the familiar lovelorn scholar, but, to win the heart of his object of desire, has to masquerade as a woman. Thus the actress Yam, who specializes in playing male roles, is now returned to her real female self, though in a distorted state!
