Yam Kim-fai despite her background as a wen wu sheng, had seldom appeared in martial arts films. The Eagle Knight and the Crimson Girl is a rare exception. This has likely something to do with her co-star, Yu Lai-zhen, a top dao ma dan, actresses trained in fight moves. Here, Yam and Yu play rival jewelry thieves, both after the same Luminous Pearl and both masquerading as servants in their target household. Much action ensues, spiced not only by obligatory sing-song but also delightful comedy. An early sample of the kung fu comedy that would later characterize the 1980s!
