Wong Tat-wai (Lui Kay), the son of a wealthy family, chances upon the young woman Ah Fun (Nancy Sit) while filming in the squatter area. He finds that while she is extremely intelligent, she is illiterate and uncouth. When Fun’s father dies in an accident, Wong takes her in with the hope of raising her to be prim and proper, but the young woman is rejected by the rest of his family. Wong leaves home with Fun and works himself to the bone to put food on the table. To make matters worse, Fun gets arrested for causing a commotion, which overwhelms Wong and results in his hospitalisation. To pay for Wong’s medical bills, Fun works as a bunny girl at a nightclub behind his back. Wong ultimately discovers Fun’s secret, but mistakes her for not having self-respect and leaves in a fit of rage.
