Penniless university student Cheung Kar-fai (Woo Fung) works part-time at the racecourse. He lands in the media spotlight after being accused of fraudulently claiming a winning bet. While covering the story, reporter Ku Yuk-han (Josephine Siao) learns that he is a driven young man. She poses as the daughter of a wealthy family and hires him as a tutor, and even performs at a nightclub under the guise of a Vietnamese dance diva, giving her wages to Cheung. Alas, a terrible fate befalls Cheung’s family, and he goes astray and joins a drug trafficking syndicate.
In her first contemporary film, Siao plays three different roles with distinct characters and looks, namely a reporter, the daughter of a wealthy family, and the Vietnamese dance diva Heavenly Enchantress. Having studied dance under the tutelage of renowned ballet teacher Jean M. Wong from a young age, portraying the Heavenly Enchantress allowed her to showcase her dance talent. Her dazzling performance in this work, together with her tall and graceful stature, cemented her status as a sweetheart of the silver screen.
