Cheung (Bruce Lee), a kid who sells comics in the slums, only has his uncle (Yee Chau-shui) and younger siblings (Chiang Kwai-lam and Fung So-bor) to call family. He helps gangleader Flash Knife Lee (Fung Fung) evade the police by chance and is given a gold chain as a reward. Cheung idolises Lee and asks the mobster to take him under his wing. The kid joins the gang and becomes a hooligan. Later, after heeding the advice of factory worker Lui Mei (Chan Wai-yu), he learns the error of his ways and makes a fresh start.
The film is adapted from a comic by Yuen Po-wan, who also appears in the movie as Boaster Chiu, the frivolous son of a factory owner who covets the family fortune. Despite being just 10 years old at the time, Lee stole the spotlight with his cheeky and comedic portrayal of an obnoxious yet likeable rascal. This film also marks the debut of director Fung Fung’s daughter, Fung So-bor—the six-year-old who played Lee’s younger sister, Ah Chu, and while her performance largely involved being herself, she captured hearts with the innocence, vivacity, and cuteness she brought to the role. And so began her journey in acting…
