A Maid Commander-in-chief and a Rash General is an adaptation of a Cantonese opera of the same title. Cui-kwun (Fung Wong Nui), a Chu general’s daughter, and her best friend Yuet-ngor (Chan Ho-kau) both fall in love with Lau (Mak Bing-wing), the general of Qi. After a series of misunderstandings, Yuet-ngor gives birth on her wedding night, and accuses Lau of having taken advantage of her when drunk—thus creating an immense rift between Cui-kwan and Lau. When the states of Chu and Qi go to war, Cui-kwun defeats Lau on the battlefield, swearing to make Lau pay for impregnating Yuet-ngor…

Aside from their excellent chemistry, Fung Wong Nui and Mak Bing-wing give impressive performances, highlighting their characters’ wilfulness and combative streaks.

Whether revealing her quarrelsome side in a war of words with Tam Lan-hing, or showing off her physical skills in fight scenes against Mak Bing-wing, Fung Wong Nui proves herself as a multi-talented performer and seasoned opera artist.
