When an obnoxious Tang princess refuses to pay the customary respect to her in-laws, the royal family decides to teach her a lesson. In this extravagant palace comedy, family values are once again reinforced. Though progress is necessary, traditional virtues must not be compromised.

This film demonstrates skilful use of cinematic mise-en-scène while at the same time preserving the artistry of its original Yue opera, as its images bring to life the atmosphere and rhythm of the dramatic text.
