Lin Dai plays two contrasting roles in this dramatic and intricate love triangle romance. She portrays the strong-willed and passionate singer Golden Lotus, as well as the gentle and affectionate young lady Shen Shuwen. Despite coming from vastly different backgrounds with distinctively different personalities, both women are deeply in love with the scholarly young master Cheng Qingyou (Kelly Lai Chen). As Golden Lotus, Lin Dai is upright and generous, displaying a warm modesty when interacting with guests in the teahouse. In contrast, as Shen Shuwen, despite her feelings of sadness and injustice knowing that her husband has feelings for someone else, she maintains her dignity as the young master’s wife. Lin's performances in both roles are heartfelt and poignant, skillfully expressing their emotions and eliciting sympathy from the audience. Lin won the Best Actress award in the Asian Film Festival for the first time with this film. Director Griffin Yue Feng meticulously crafted settings that include a grand mansion, a bustling teahouse, and modest lodgings for the impoverished, all of which exude an air of elegance to the film.
